Introduction
The topics below describe deployment requirements for gateways. Before installing a gateway, read the Instrumentation Reference for best practices.
Network requirements
Gateways have the following network connectivity requirements.
Outbound connectivity
Port no. / Service | Gateway appliance | Windows gateway | Purpose |
---|---|---|---|
TCP port 443 | Yes | Connect to OpsRamp using the public IP addresses. | |
DNS | Yes | Resolve address *.api.vistanet.jp . |
Inbound connectivity
Port no. | Gateway appliance | Windows gateway | Purpose |
---|---|---|---|
TCP port 5480 | Yes | Access the gateway web-based admin UI for administration. | |
TCP port 3128 | Yes | Accept connections from agents if agents are configured to connect to OpsRamp using the gateway embedded proxy. | |
TCP port 162 | Yes | Yes | Send SNMP traps to the gateway from network devices. | TCP port 154 | Yes | Send syslog messages to the gateway from network devices. |
Server requirements
Gateway appliance
Capacity
Number of managed resources | Required server capacity |
---|---|
Up to 25 resources | 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM / 40 GB Disk / 1 NIC |
Up to 100 resources | 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM / 40 GB Disk / 1 NIC |
Up to 500 resources | 8 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM / 100 GB Disk / 1 NIC |
Greater than 500 resources at a single site | Deploy multiple gateways |
Capacity values are approximate and can vary depending on various factors, such as template frequency and the kind of metrics collected.
Hypervisor
Gateway runs on the following hypervisors:
- VMware ESXi
- Citrix XenServer
- Microsoft Hyper-V
- Kernel Virtual Machine(KVM)

Capacity
Number of managed resources | Required server capacity |
---|---|
Up to 30 network resources and 500 Windows servers | 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM / 5 GB Disk / 1 NIC. |
Operating System
A server running one of the following operating systems:
- Windows 2012 R2 Standard (64-bit)
- Windows 2016 Datacenter (64-bit)
